Sorry for the lack of posts.

I have been up to so many wonderful and

horrible things the past couple of months.

You can't really get away from dichotomies,

it adds a certain balance to everything.

I found a lovely apartment in a lovely

tree-lined neighbourhood.

It's quiet, and it's all by myself

and it's in Winnipeg.

i know. I was going to leave.

things happened and i can't for awhile now...

I'm now an owner of a production company here.

We're putting on a music festival in the dead of winter

as well as throwing several mini shows from now until

then. It's a lot of work, but my partners are the

raddest, and it's giving me something incredibly

positive to focus on.

also there are all the musician babes.

I'll definitely be posting more about it

when we launch.

I've also been interning at Cocoon Branding

and still working like crazy.

so i'm busy, but i'm happy.

ah.

the 'horrible things' will have to wait.

i got my wisdom teeth out yesterday, and

my lovely friend Ken asked me to document

my pretty face for at least the first 24 hours

(these photos are all a few hours apart by the way).

preamble on the surgery:

all 4 were mega impacted and i had to get put

under. I apparently woke up and argued

with the nurse about smoking, singing her songs,

and roller coasters. I called her a liar.

I'm an ass.

anyway, this is what my face normally

looks like, just a little less thug:

this is me after a few hours of sleeping

etc. once i came down from the anaesthetic high:

this is me after crying about it like a

little baby because the T3s weren't working

and i was hungry and sad and my face

was a basketball of pain:

this is after my dad saved the day with

a massive rainbow slurpee with my favourite

flavour (cream soda) on top

(note the marked increase in happiness):

a few hours later, my brother brought me cake

(which i couldn't eat, and i hate cake, but it

was really nice of him anyway, and it cheered me up):

this is after finally eating, and the pain

decreasing a bit and i realize i'm going to

live through this totally routine procedure

and i'm just a little baby:

my face still super sucks and hurts and sucks.

silver lining: they got em all out so i don't have

to do this again. hooray!

Although edited down, I'm glad they

left in the lines about prostates on faces

and August 1st.

I think given more space I could have expressed

my opinion on pubic grooming for a cause better.

here's a picture of me being uncomfortable

and awkward in Niagara Falls.

You can't tell that i'm at the falls

because there's no way in hell i'd get

close to that wild water death trap,

of public transit and a school bus.

I'm done school in 15 days. Well, 15

school days (weekends not included).

I would be excited, if it weren't for

the mountain of work i have to somehow

do before those 15 days are up.

I'm getting my wisdom teeth out

6 days before my birthday and i'm

terrified, but i get to be put under.

Not looking forward to the needle in

the hand thing, but my mom's coming,

and she's a bit of an expert on getting

IV's, and on making sure i don't flip out.

all my friends are out of town

so i am just writing media plans

and sitting in class

and working nights

and being lonely.

oh. and my bronchioles hurt.

in sweaters and blankets and read for hours.

we took a midnight boat ride when the sky

cleared. it was pitch black, but the stars

I've been reading a lot lately.

It's been fantastic to force myself to take

that time, even if it is only an hour a day

to read something I want to.

I just finished Jane Eyre (obviously)

and am currently reading Salman Rushdi's

"Midnight's Children" and Suzanne Collins'

"The Hunger Games". I like reading the two

at the same time because they are both so different,

in story and writing style. It's impossible to

cross the stories in my mind, and it's nice to

switch it up periodically.

It makes me feel more sane to pack up the

computer after a long day and read a great book.

A nice break from all the chatter.

I've been stumbling across these treehouses

on the internet the past month or so.

i've been drawn to each one.

it may be my need for a haven these days.

to return to where i grew up,

where i learned to be.

I played in forests alone as a child.

a magical place called princess park

at the end of my street,

with trees taller than i could see,

and babbling brooks and tiny clearings.

a safer time, when i could disappear

from home and my mom wouldn't worry

even though i was only 8.

when i could go as deep as i could

into the woods and always find my way

back by dinner time.

when i lay in the grass,

listening to the applause of the trees

on an especially windy day

and spoke in whispers.

There's something i learned on

those solo trips to the heart of the

tiny forest at the end of my street:

to be still.

not unmoving, unseeing, unfeeling;

but to see, and feel it all.

to still my mind, and to listen

to the sounds in the silence.

i was wiser at 8 than i am now.

i am trying to find that again.
