in a cave

fellow troglodytes.
today, the first snowy horrible day
of the longest stretch of winter, is the day
we recede back to whence we came.
to listen to quieter music
in a quieter city
doing quieter things.

the one thing i love about this season
is the quiet and the forever
excuse to not go out.
i've got winter tires now. so no need
to fear the death trap that is outside my door.

care bears is back from mexico and
her brosef's wedding.
i told her over coffee yesterday that i was
jealous that she got to hang out with
patrick my one-time BFFL(FN)
for the whole week!

i have nothing to say except that i took my
niece to superstore and the falafel place
and that i need to get out of this city.

i'll leave you with this quote from madge
which made me laugh out loud and yet
has stuck with me still. said during a
impromptu consoling in the exchange district
when i felt as if i was going nuts and needed
to get out and start fresh:

"Don't go to Switzerland.
Switzerland is a horrible place to hit
rock bottom. it's like, 'the air is so fresh
and everything is beautiful, so
why do i feel so dead inside?'"
